I [RIVER] didn’t want to go camping, but mom told me to go. There was five of us.

MAXINE AND JOHN, OUR FRIENDS

John and David had guns for hunting. I was helping Syn collect plants and bugs for her science project coming up. Maxine and John was setting up our tents and David left to hunt rabbits.

I still remember the smell of smoke and we drove past cars parked on the side of the road on our way to the campsite.

I heard gunshots and David scream. Then more shooting. He came back to the campsite with three police officers and a strange man who was laughing and trying to climb a tree. All of their eyes were moving fast and bleeding. David grabbed John and he was held down by three of the police officers. David spit something black into his mouth and told Syn to kiss him.

John changed. He, the officers, and the strange man started laughing at us. The strange man grabbed the gun from David and tried to shoot us. I grabbed John’s gun and shot one of the officers and the strange man. I shot them, but they weren’t dead. They started chasing me, Syn, and Maxine.

I don’t remember, but I think John and David grabbed Maxine. I don’t remember if they spat in her mouth too. I never saw her again when we reached the car and Syn didn’t want to wait.

Syn took us straight to the police station, but no one was there. We went home and she told mom and dad what happened, but they didn’t believe us. They then left. Said they were going with the other parents to find the other kids.

I shot a police officer, but he didn’t die. Like in Night of the Living Dead.

We waited for mom and dad to come home. Only dad showed up early in the morning.  He was laughing too with rattling eyes. He told us to eat a plant. He said “I don’t want to spit in our mouths.

Syn refused to eat the plant. Dad grabbed her, used his fingers to open her mouth and spit the same black goo in her mouth. She spit it out and shot dad with the gun we had. He got back up, laughing at us. He said it felt good.

Syn took me. We ran to the car and we drove away to the hospital.

Syn was crying, laughing. She said she was hot and she started touching herself. She said I need to join her, but she started crying saying I was just a baby. She was driving fast, saying it felt like she was floating. She was scaring me. said to eat the plant in my pocket because she can smell it. She said it smelled sweet and when I said no, she hit me, crashed into the hospital and ran over the people waiting.

My sister, Syn. Her eyes were shaking fast and bleeding. The black goo was coming out of her mouth. She spit in my face, but I moved my head. I think.

I remember her grabbing me. I can’t remember what happened after that. I’m here now.
